Hi David. Really looking forward to Popes Children Episode 1. Hopefully you’ll help break the banks and media’s obsession with property although anyone with half a brain knows its all going to go pear shaped in the not too distant future. Off topic, I see you are on the Gerry Ryan show in later on today. Gerry Ryan is someone who on many occassions has come out with comments such as “you can’t go wrong with bricks and mortar”. Please give him a rough ride and ask him the questions that he doesn’t want asked!! i.e. Why is the least… Read more »

Hi David
I am one of the HBS guys that followed you to Crawdaddy the other evening. A very different evening after the formalities of the B.School’s event. I would like to wish you every success in the upcoming RTE series. See you on the 7th.

David,
I thoroughly enjoyed episode 1 tonight of the Pope’s Children. But what is the name or more to the point, how do you spell the name of the Russian industrialist hero mentioned? I would like to find out more about him.
Keep up the good work,
Shane

Hi David ,
I am desperate to see “The Pope’s Children” ,but live in the States at the moment(I am Irish). Is there any way for me to watch it ?
Thaks Maria
Shane, I missed the first episode (so will also be hoping that the series is posted online after it complete it’s run on RTE), but I’ll take a guess that the Russian name your looking for is Aleksei Stakhanov (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleksei_Grigorievich_Stakhanov), Hero of Socialist Labour who mined 102 tons of coal in 6 hours. Mentioned at the start of Chapter 13 (on page 156) of The Pope’s Children (paperback edition).
Can you arrange so RTE repeats your show at some stage during the week, or ideally have it available as a video podcast.

Hi
Any know what the background theme music used in the program. It was an orchestral / techno type piece.
It was especially used when the program was flashing from image to image.
Its stuck in my head and I’d like to find out what it is.
Anyone able to suggest what it might be
Thanks
Debbie

Absolutely great documentary and really well delivered. It initially made me feel so un-Irish as I have been living away for 16 years now. On reflection, however, I think I might have been one of the lucky ones. Am living in Rome, mortgage free and generally told by my brothers & sisters at home what a great life-style I have. Haven’t got much money but enough to keep me happy most of the time. My salary? €900.

When David McWilliams does a documentary for RTE or any other station,he should have it in his contract that he gets full rights and ownership to the documentaries after a certain amount of time.e.g.1 Year.
This would mean that 1 year after it’s initial broadcast on tv,it’s up to David McWilliams and Co. if they want to distribute it on davidmcwilliams.ie

Hi Maria, at the moment no! We would love to be able to release it online after it has completed it’s TV run, but this is up to RTE.
Shane, I will find out the answer to that one for you.
